BIG WIG SMALL GIG
IN AUGUST 2023, STEPHANIE LAKE COMPANY, IN ASSOCIATION WITH ABBOTSFORD CONVENT, PRESENTED THE INAUGURAL SEASON OF ESCALATOR - NEW SHORT DANCE PIECES BY FIVE OF NAARM’S (MELBOURNE) FRESHEST CHOREOGRAPHIC TALENTS.
BIG WIG SMALL GIG Is a scandalous courting act that is busted by a third party, breaking into a virtuosic baroque, barnyard, wrestle of love and pain.
The work explores and uses foundations of Brazilian jiu jitsu, professional ballroom partnering, contact improv and rodeo barnyard dancing in an amalgamation and as inspiration to capture and create potential to suspend and prolong epic & unruly pathways for the body in space.
